2022 09 Newsletter Chair’s letter

I must start by thanking for Mary 3 years of service as our Chair and the years before that when she was Treasurer. She will be a hard act to follow.

I hope everyone has enjoyed their summer break, and enjoyed any dancing you have managed to do, perhaps Summer School at St Andrew’s, or Summer Tuesdays? Our classes started slightly earlier this year so we could help get people back into dancing mode before the Epsom band dance on 10th September. I hope that was useful to those of you who attended, and congratulations

to the 2 Croydon members who had special birthdays during Covid and whose delayed celebration this was.

This term we have Eastbourne to look forward to, with Ian and Judith Muir playing for us and Anita Wilson from Somerset teaching us. It should be an excellent weekend and I shall look forward to seeing you there, my first visit due to a number of family events over the years. If you haven’t already booked please do so; the application form is on the website and Roger, our treasurer, is the main contact. It is also the term when the Society AGM is held and this year it is Glasgow rather than Perth, recognising the 100th anniversary of the RSCDS which was founded in Glasgow by Miss Milligan and Mrs Isobel Stewart (of Fasnacloich, and the jig) and wife to Major Ian Stewart.

Most importantly of all, enjoy the new season of dancing and I hope to see you on the dance floor or in class over the course of the year
